We do not have to be geniuses to suspect that the pesticides and nitrates that add to the crops are extremely dangerous for the human body. In addition, we always try to choose the best for our family and we try that the fruits and vegetables are bruised or very mature, but we do not pay attention to the most important thing, that is why today we bring you some tips that will help you identify fruits and safe and healthy vegetables.

  1. Carrots

Never lose sight of the fact that in healthy vegetables there is no place for strange stains. In the case of carrots, large ones with a bright orange color always attract attention, but their appearance is actually quite artificial. We recommend choosing the smallest and not so artificial ones.

2. Potatoes

Since potatoes absorb chemicals very well, you have to be careful when buying them. We recommend selecting the medium sized tubers. Even if they have black dots, they can always be removed. But large and smooth potatoes, no doubt contain harmful substances. Important: prick your skin with your nail and if a crunchy sound is produced, the potato is suitable for consumption, it does not have pesticides.

3. Tomatoes

With tomatoes it is easier to distinguish them, because healthy fruits have fine skin and their flesh is of a homogeneous color. If the tomato to the touch looks like plastic and the flesh has visible white stripes, then it has nitrates. You should also look at the stem, because a normal tomato has it small.

4. Cucumbers

If you buy cucumbers out of season, you must be sure that they have been treated with paraffin. We do not recommend eating them without peeling. If you cut a cucumber and in its interior seeds are not appreciated, bounce it without hesitation, since in these fruits there are n dangerous substances. Important: when buying them, look at the tail of the cucumber. It must be tough and tough.

5. Cabbage

This is simple because a cabbage without the presence of pesticides does not show spots on any of its leaves. If the leaves of the cabbage are clean, they are thin and of uniform color, everything is safe and you can buy it.

6. Apples

You must choose those that are smaller, greenish and with small imperfections and leaves on the counter the bright red, without a single spot and look like a film, since one of the fruits that hosts more nitrates is the apple .
Important: to check if an apple has chemical products, cover it with boiling water. If an oily film appeared on the skin, it has been treated with paraffin and mixed with other substances.

7. Pumpkins

Pay close attention to the surface of the pumpkin when you need to choose one. If your skin is clean and smooth, good sign, but if it has fibrous stripes that are not straight, as well as unknown dark spots, this reveals a high content of pesticides.

8. Strawberries

Strawberry not even in its season is free of nitrates and other harmful substances. To avoid risks when buying them, remember that the natural ones do not stand out for an ideal appearance and if their color is too lively, it is most likely that they have been painted. Pay attention to the black spots, they are caused by nitrates. Also, if you do not perceive a natural smell of strawberry, better buy elsewhere. Important: wash the strawberries with cold water. If after an hour does not start to release its juice, that is a sign that they were subjected to chemical treatments.

9. Watermelons

When it is not your season, watermelons are full of nitrates. The shell of a watermelon not treated with chemical substances must present contrasts and its tail must be dry. When cutting, if you see that the flesh is bright red with yellow fibers, it is already a symptom of the existence of nitrates. The fibers of a good watermelon are white.

10. Cherries

Cherries are also very manipulated and often undergo a chemical spraying process. Do not despair, because knowing which one to choose is not complex, since good cherries are bright and even, the dull ones with whitish spots on the skin indicate the presence of pesticides. Important: cover the cherries with boiling water and cover the bowl. If after a while the smell of cherry does not change, everything is fine.

Read these recommendations:

  • Buy fruits and vegetables only in places of your confidence, giving preference to local and seasonal.
  • Avoid fruits too nice, bright and of identical size that, on the other hand, lack odor.
  • If you choose between different producers, weigh the fruits of the same size by hand and buy those that are heavier.
  • Carefully wash the fruit and vegetables to peel it by removing a thick layer of peel. We recommend to subject the fruits to a heat treatment.
  • This is a bit more complex, but you should ask the seller for the documents explaining the place of cultivation of everything that is sold. This will help you, for example, to avoid buying imported grapes that are advertised as originating in your region.
